"The first single from the Dead's 'Blues For Allah' album, 'The Music Never Stopped' debuted live in 1975, and was primarily a first set closer by 1977, although it occasionally opened a show, and on a very rare occasion in 1985, it opened a second set. Originally, the song's lyric was written as Hollywood Cantata by Robert Hunter, but Bob scrapped those lyrics and had his songwriting partner write a completely different lyric."
